USA vs. Finland -- The Series

The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Finland in its second-to-last game of the preliminary round at the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship. The U.S. and Finland are tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in Group B. Russia (15) is in first place, while Latvia (9) and Belarus (9) are tied for second.

Team USA is 20-1-2-27-8 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) against Finland in the IIHF Men’s World Championship. The nations have met four times over the last two tournaments. In 2013, Craig Smith had a hat trick in a 4-1 preliminary round win, and followed that up with a goal and an assist as Team USA earned a 3-2 shootout victory in the bronze-medal game. In 2012, Team USA posted a 5-0 win in the preliminary round before Finland won by a 3-2 count in the quarterfinals. All-time, game-by-game series history
