The International Ice Hockey Federation on Thursday released the schedule for the 2014 IIHF Men's World Championship, set for May in Belarus.
Team USA claimed the bronze medal at the 2013 tournament, the country's first medal since 2004 in the event.
The U.S. opens the tournament on Friday, May 9, against host Belarus in the 15,000-seat Minsk Arena. Team USA will play seven games over 12 days as the teams jostle for medal-round positioning. The top eight teams in pool play will advance to a single-elimination tournament that culminates with the gold-medal game on May 25.
