U18s Blank Bloomington In Final Home Game

The U18s shutout Bloomington 6-0 in their final home game at USA Hockey Arena

Five U.S. National Under-18 Team players recorded multiple points as they defeated the Bloomington Thunder 6-0 in their final home game of the season Saturday night at USA Hockey Arena.

Prior to the last NTDP puck drop of the season, the Under-18 Team’s billet families were brought on the ice and recognized.

Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) opened the scoring at 7:30 of the first frame finishing a centering pass from Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.). Michael Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) picked up the secondary assist on the goal.

With the goal, Norris has scored in six of his last eight USHL games and leads the team with 51 points.

Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) sent the puck in from the left circle on the power play at 16:42 of the first period. David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) picked up an assist on the goal while Pastujov picked up his second of the night.

At 17:29 of the first period Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) cleaned up his own rebound to extend the U18s lead on the Thunder. Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) and Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) picked up the assists.

Tortora netted his second goal of the game at 2:45 of the second period, sending the puck in over the blocker of Bloomington’s goaltender Gabriel Mollot-Hill. Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) assisted on the goal while Cockerill tallied his second assist of the game.

At 4:55 of the third period, Scott Reedy (Prior Lake, Minn.) put the puck behind the blocker of replacement Thunder goaltender, Zachary Stejskal after a centering pass from Grant Mishmash (Edina, Minn.). Hughes picked up his second assist of the game.

Tkachuk scored less than a minute later at 5:30 of the third period to extend the U18s lead to six. Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) and Mattias Samuelsson (Voorhees, N.J.)

Team USA’s Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) posted 14 saves on the night.  Bloomington’s Mollot-Hill and Stejskal combined for 28 saves.

The U18s close out their USHL season Saturday, April 3, in Muskegon, Mich. against the Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. ET.
